Visit to Manasa Jyothi, A School for Special Children | Meals Donation Camp in Kundapura

Manasa Jyothi Koni

Manasa Jyothi is a founded residential school for children with a mental and/or physical handicap. Manasa Jyothi Trust has just opened a new school in Koni, Kundapur. The school is located in a beautiful area where there is a lot of greenery and playground for the children to play. Manasa Jyothi is a small school that has grown over the last ten years. As of January 2012 they have more than 20 children. These all gives them an environment with a large range of staff with various skills and expertise where the child can be appreciated as an individual. And now with the new building in Koni, they happily say that there no better place for a specially able child in India to be than in Koni.

The school is not funded by the government but by a private Trust and does not ask the parents for any fee. Therefore Manasa Jyothi functions, for the children without parents or with parents, who cannot or do not want to care for them, a place to live and receive education. For some children this school is their only chance in society.

Manasa Jyothi Trust was started in year 2000 with support from Mr. N. Sudarshan Nayak, Bangalore. The Trust continues to be active and needs a lot of support.

The school is actively managed by Shobha Madhyastha and Maartje van den Brand a Physiotherapist from The Netherlands.

We Visited Manasa Jyothi on 5th August, 2012 and conducted a Meals donation Campaign and tried our level best to be a small Silver Lining in their lives. The visit was accompanied by the students of Saraswathi Group of Institutes. They all served the children the mean, feeded them with extreme love and care and also promised that they keep visiting such schools and do their best in coming days.
